The Department of Geography in Ram Krishna Mahavidyalaya, Kailashahar is one of the youngest departments in the college. The subject geography was introduced as Pass elective course in August, 2014 along with the newly introduced sixth semester course of Bachelor degree under Tripura University. Owing to the need and demands of aspiring students in the region and institutional support and cooperation, the Tripura University team in May 2016 made an inspection to the department and college to examine feasibility for opening a Full fledged department. Subsequently in the same year in August, the proposal was accepted and thereby made a new chapter by offering Honours course in the College. The department is committed in giving good education and carrier in the subject.
Capacity Seats: The Department offers limited seats. The Capacity of seats in Pass course is 25 seats. Presently the capacity seats for Honours students are 10 seats. The increase in seats for honours course is likely to change over the years with demand of the students and accommodation of lab facilities and increase of staff in the department.
About Faculty/ Staffs:- At first, during beginning session of 2014, the subject was being managed by Guest Lecturer Mrs. Shelly Chakraborty but thereafter within short time Mr. Peter Prasanta Debbarma, Assistant Professor joined the department in November, 2014 and took over the charge of H.O.D –IC. In August 2016, Mr. Bappa Majumder Guest Lecturer joined the department.
Visions & Infrastructure: At Present, the department has good lab facilities which still need to be equipped. There are three rooms entrusted to the department. The Department has many computer aided equipments for students and faculty use. The practical tools required by the syllabus are being procured. There are many efforts and initiatives being taken for establishing department with all equipment facilities that a full- fledged Geography department must possess.
